Smoother boards, clearer analysis and Discord game sharing
Practice and review with easier board controls, clearer explanations of flagged mistakes, and feedback linked to the position you are studying. Filter opening insights to the games that matter, keep your practice history as analysis changes, and choose whether to share new games in Discord.
Easier board controls
- Larger replay and promotion controls make boards easier to use on small screens. Practice layouts make better use of tablet space, and starting a game-review retry brings the board into view.
- Choose a queen, rook, bishop or knight when promoting in opening practice and game-review retries. The choice appears over the board and supports keyboard focus, cancellation and Escape.
- Practice boards show when a move is being checked and offer a retry if grading fails. Repeated input while checking cannot submit another move.
- Replay updates are grouped during rapid navigation, with shorter move animations and support for reduced-motion preferences.
Understand and report a flagged mistake
- Pattern explanations show the recorded evidence, why the position was flagged, and what the analysis cannot establish. Findings from older analysis versions are identified.
- Personal-rule reminders are distinguished from tactical mistakes and kept separate from move flags on the board.
- Report a position, question or filtered view from game review, own-game practice, leaks and openings. Choose whether to include context and preview exactly what will accompany your private report.
- Reports stay private for review; they are not automatically published as community issues.
Study the right games
- Filter opening insights by time control and date range before Gambit selects the latest 200 matching games. The page shows the sample used.
- Opening filters stay in the page URL, and changing them preserves an unsaved study draft.
Reliable analysis and practice history
- Incomplete pattern checks are labelled clearly. A failed check is not treated as finding no mistakes.
- Workouts use completed checks for each theme so incomplete analysis does not make your progress look better than it is.
- Own-game questions are tied to the game and analysis that produced them. When that evidence changes, older questions stop appearing in current practice while their previous answers remain in your history.
- Some older own-game questions may temporarily disappear until replacement questions are generated. Curated practice remains available.
Choose what appears in Discord
- The Discord page now offers Share new games and Stop sharing for verified chess.com accounts, explains what is shared, and links to the game-feed channel.
- Sharing is opt-in and separate from linking your Discord account. Existing sharing choices are preserved, and your first import does not flood the channel with historical games.
- Queued community posts recheck current sharing choices before sending, including withholding a queued weekly summary if a player included in it has stopped sharing.
Help us test
- Try moving pieces, promotion and replay on your phone or tablet. Report your device and browser if a control is hard to reach or the board behaves unexpectedly.
- Use the new report links for misleading mistake flags or irrelevant practice questions. Include the optional context when useful so we can find the exact example.
- Tell us whether opening filters help you find useful games and whether the Discord sharing controls are clear.
