v1.6.0

Clearer home page, the Gambit Discord, and a Data page

The home page explains how Gambit works and why it is free. A Gambit Discord invite that does not expire is linked from the public site and the app. Settings has a Data page for what we hold and for closing your account, and an admin can remove a non-admin member. Search engines can find the public pages. Your games, dashboard and settings stay off the sitemap.

A clearer home page

  • The home page leads with the move-four queen trap, then three steps: get an invite, connect chess.com, and wake up to drills built from your games.
  • Feature cards describe engine review, leaks, practice, openings, tactics, the position studio, the Discord feed and your data. They describe what Gambit already does.
  • A short note explains that Gambit is free because Wicked Sick Ltd gives time to pro-bono work.
  • One card, a global blunder comparison, is marked coming soon. That comparison is not in this release, and the openings and leaks pages are unchanged.

The Gambit Discord

  • The Gambit Discord is linked from the public header and footer, the home page, registration, the app sidebar and Bugs & ideas.
  • The invite does not expire. Use it to ask for a registration invite or to talk through feedback.
  • The community link is separate from connecting your own Discord account and from opting in to share games.

Your data and closing your account

  • Settings, then Data, explains what Gambit holds: your account, connected chess accounts, games and analysis, drills and practice history, and feedback you send. Games, analysis and drills stay visible only to you.
  • For a copy of your games and analysis, create a token under API & MCP access. For a full copy, ask through Bugs & ideas. The page links the privacy notice.
  • Close your account has moved from Profile to this Data page. Closing still deletes the account, connected chess accounts, games, analysis and API tokens immediately, and it cannot be undone.
  • Feedback you already sent stays unless you ask an admin to remove it. If you cannot sign in, email [email protected].

Removing a member

  • An admin can permanently remove a non-admin member from Admin, then Users, after typing REMOVE.
  • Removal deletes the same records as closing your own account. Admin accounts cannot be removed this way.

Public pages for search engines

  • The site publishes /sitemap.xml with the public home page and What's new, including each release that is already published. Sign-in pages, games, the dashboard and settings are left out.
  • robots.txt points crawlers at https://projectgambit.gg/sitemap.xml. It still allows crawlers to request pages, and it states that search, AI input and AI training may use what they can fetch.

Opening counts are not in the app yet

  • A maintainer tool can count opening lines in the public Lichess database. It writes counts only, and player names stay out of the output. Gambit does not read those counts yet.
